Our city is fortunate to host one of the most important art collections of the 19th and 20th centuries after the collection of the National Gallery and the Koutlidis collection.
The Museum as a public and social good is addressed to all citizens, exceeding the outdated elitist perceptions, giving all the while reasons and incentives for the participation of the citizens in the cultural events. The role of museums today is directly related to the structure and evolution of society over time, a living cell of culture, memory and extroversion.
Our goal is to ensure and highlight its rich cultural material, through rolling exhibitions, as well as by hosting new periodical exhibitions connecting yesterday with today, through the evolution of art.
Among others, educational programmes, screenings of films of artistic content and generally art-related events are held and the connection with art institutions of our country and Europe is pursued.
